Percussionist King Konga has been playing alongside DancersHip Resident DJs for almost 17 years; beginning way back in 2004 playing at the hugely popular Ride Bar in Plymouth.

King Konga is a classically trained musician and has been playing drums and percussion professionally for over 20 years. He has a wealth of experience playing live percussion with international DJs, bands and artists.

Over recent years Andy has worked alongside internationally renowned DJs including the godfather of UK House and Garage Grant Nelson, Danny O and Ridney (Cafe Mambo residents), renown producer and DJ Richard Earnshaw, Steve Taylor (iCulture),  Kevin McKay (Glasgow Underground & producer of Mylo’s no. 3 single  ‘Doctor pressure’), Junior (Kinky Malinky, Citylife), Grant Richards (Kinky Malinki), Mitch Tilson & Jack Disley (SoulMuch, SoulDevine), Plymouth legend Pete Isaac (Jelly Jazz) and a number of international DJs including Matt D and Gerardo Smedile (Italy), The Checkup (Germany).

As well as playing with DJs, Andy has also played for a wide variety of international bands and artists including PIXIE LOTT (artist and ITVs ‘Voice Kids’ coach), Eddie Manion (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band), Miss Emily (Canadian singer songwriter), Shahab Tiam (Iranian pop star), Diane Shaw (UK Soul artist) and Lew Kirton (Legendary American soul singer), and UK Bhangra artist Surj Sahota.

Despite a packed diary and now living in Bedford, King Konga still makes the 5hr journey down to Plymouth to play at DH events whenever possible.
